I was recently at an International Women’s Day event hosted by this important Leigh-on-Sea based charity. The focus of the event was on mentoring and generally giving back but I also learnt about Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust. The following article gives a short introduction to the vital work they do. I urge you to keep them in mind in case anyone you know may benefit from their help.

Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust supports individuals before, during and after breast cancer, with its dedicated McAdden Sanctuary (https://ladymcadden.org/sanctuary/) based in Leigh-on-Sea. The Sanctuary is a calm, welcoming space offering a range of supportive services for those affected by breast cancer, including gentle Pilates, art therapy, meditation, counselling, NLP sessions and a men’s support hub. It provides a safe haven where people can access both emotional and physical support throughout their journey.
A vital part of the charity’s work is its experienced nurse team, who offer one-to-one support for anyone with breast health concerns. Whether someone has a question, needs reassurance or is navigating a diagnosis, the nurses are there to provide guidance every step of the way.
The team also delivers engaging breast health awareness workshops across schools, workplaces and community groups, helping to educate and empower people with the knowledge needed for early detection.
2026 marks a milestone year as the Trust celebrates its 50th anniversary. To honour this, a series of special events will take place throughout the year, including Ascot Race Day in June and the Golden Gala in November. Tickets to our events can be purchased here. In addition, monthly networking walks at Belfairs Woods offer a relaxed opportunity for professionals to connect while enjoying nature.
There are many ways to support Lady McAdden, from attending events to fundraising, volunteering or simply sharing information about the charity. To find out more, visit ladymcadden.org or email info@ladymcadden.org
