Better Connected: How GP Connect benefits our clients

So, we are very pleased to announce that we now have access to the NHS GP Connect system. GP Connect is a secure NHS digital service that allows authorised care providers to access important information from a client’s GP record, including medications, allergies, diagnoses, and recent health updates. This system integrates seamlessly with our digital care planning software, enabling our care team to securely view real-time health information alongside daily care records.

The benefits of GP Connect are significant for both our clients and our team. Previously, obtaining up-to-date medical information often relied on phone calls, emails, or messages between care providers, GP practices, pharmacies, and family members. This could sometimes lead to delays, miscommunication, or incomplete information. With GP Connect, our team now has instant access to key clinical data, reducing reliance on multiple communication channels and ensuring important details are always available when needed.

For our clients, this means safer, more responsive, and highly personalised care. Our carers can quickly check medication changes, understand health conditions, and respond appropriately to any concerns. In urgent situations, having immediate access to accurate information supports faster decision-making and improved outcomes, giving both clients and their families greater peace of mind.

For our homecare team, GP Connect improves efficiency and coordination. It reduces communication barriers with GP surgeries and pharmacies, minimises delays in updating care plans, and strengthens collaboration with other healthcare professionals. Ultimately, it allows our carers to spend less time chasing information and more time focusing on delivering compassionate, high-quality care.
