Home Our Services Homecare
Homecare as it should be
There are many homecare providers covering Southend-on-Sea and the surrounding area but none offers the same combination of benefits to local families. One of only a handful rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, Doris Jones’ fully managed homecare service provides the quality, care and dependability we all want for our loved ones.
Founded and managed by experienced physiotherapists, all aspects of our service aim to optimise health and wellbeing and increase people’s ability to live independently in their own homes. Applying physiotherapy principles in even the subtlest way can have profound results in terms of preventing hospital admissions, reducing dependence, and delaying or avoiding a move to residential care.
To most of us, home means peace, safety and the comfort of familiar surroundings. So being able to live at home for as long as we can, even if it means relying on others, can be vital to our wellbeing.
The importance of companionship
As human beings, we need to interact with others to avoid loneliness, boredom, anxiety and the difficulties these can bring. Of course, some of us are happier in our own company than others but, on the whole, spending too much time alone is unhealthy.
Many clients start out with one or more weekly visits of an hour or more, doing something they enjoy with a person who is completely dedicated to them for that period. Whether going out for a walk, playing cards, watching a film, gardening or heading out for a day trip, the objective is wholesome, enjoyable interaction.
Importantly, our providing companionship to a client also offers benefits to their family members.
Sharing responsibility for a loved one, in however small a way, can offer respite and free up time for the other demands of daily life. Or just a guilt-free sit down for an hour or two!
Housekeeping & Home Help
Keeping the home clean and tidy, helping with laundry, healthy food preparation and general household tasks. All these are things we can do to reduce the burden on clients and their families.
Besides getting a few useful jobs done, having someone around the house for an hour or two also provides valuable companionship and combats loneliness.
Discreet, dignified support
When assistance is needed with the tasks of daily living, from bathing and dressing to continence care, medication or meal preparation, we can help.
Our staff are trained to provide assistance in accordance with personalised care plans built around the preferences of the individual. At all times, the dignity of the person receiving care remains of paramount importance. Respectful support, provided when it is needed, in the place the person feels most comfortable.
The reassurance of having someone there overnight
All the services we provide during the day can be provided at night-time too. Depending on your needs, we can provide either a sleeping or waking night service.
Whether it’s simply the comfort of knowing someone is there, or assistance with getting to the toilet or taking medication, we can provide the care you need throughout the night.
Respite care
We may not always admit it, but caring for a loved one can be challenging, stressful and enormously tiring. There are times when you just need a break; a little time to care for yourself and make sure you have the energy to look after those you love.
Whether an hour, a day or a week, and whether a one-off or a regular arrangement, we can ensure you get the time you need to recharge, safe in the knowledge that your loved one has the care and support they need.
